Chef Simone Bridges: Youth Advocate and Entrepreneur

Simone is a 14-year-old entrepreneur, baker, author, philanthropist and speaker from Florida. She owns Goddess Food Factory in Jacksonville, Florida, in which she puts a unique twist on baking and focuses on teaching young people STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math). I recently sat down with Chef Simone and her mother Arica to discuss her new top-secret adventure that was filming in Fort Wayne.

Chef Simone has connected to Fort Wayne through the Fort Wayne Girlz Rock organization and its founder, Denita Washington. She has come to love the city and has participated in speaking engagements hosted by Fort Wayne Girlz Rock in the community over the last two years.

Tell me what brought you to Fort Wayne this time?
Chef Simone: Although I can’t share all the details, I was sought out to be a part of a show coming soon and we are shooting right here in Fort Wayne.

Where else will the show be traveling to?
Chef Simone: The show will travel to 10 different states before launching on the BYU Network.
Talk to me about shooting and traveling in this current climate.

Chef Simone: Well there is weekly testing in each city to make sure that all staff and actors are safe. We wear masks and keep our distance except when on camera.

How do you keep up with school as you travel and manage your business?
Chef Simone: I am headed into the 9th grade and have continued to go to school virtually, manage my homework, and my business altogether.

Chef Simone’s mother, Arica, is also an entrepreneur and Simone grew up watching her mother manage her business of decorating events. Through her business, Simone focuses on making her customers happy but also teaching youth about STREAM which Simone says are the six main components of education.

Arica said that she allowed her girls, Simone has an older sister, to explore their interests and participate in various activities while growing up. She also taught them the value of a dollar and how not to waste money on things they might not have as much interest in. She taught them the economics of revenues and expenses as it relates to profit.

Simone loves the city of Fort Wayne and loves to visit. She is excited about her new acting venture and can’t wait to share it with the world.
