Book Signing Celebration: Yalonda Naylor’s “The Truth About Your Health”

Book Signing Celebration: Yalonda Naylor’s “The Truth About Your Health”

Written by Tabitha Ervin

I was excited to sit down with Transitional Health’s Yalonda Naylor and Yolanda Walker after reading my advance copy of “The Truth About Your Health,” written by Naylor. It is well written like a beautiful essay of knowledge and information which provides tips and tricks such as “don’t get caught” and other in-depth information about food and health overall. As we sat and talked I learned more about the passion behind the book but also the efforts to give people information about how to live and be healthy for a longer time on this earth. I am very excited for all of Fort Wayne and beyond to begin or continue the journey of learning the truth about your health.

Naylor is passionate about improving people's lives through nutrition, activity and mindfulness. She is a certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist and Youth Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and served as a Medical Specialist in the U.S. Army and Indiana Army National Guard. Her military medical background helped her make sense of the cardiovascular, muscular and skeleton systems along with basic digestive and range-of-motion functions. In her youth, Naylor was a star athlete, helping Snider High School win their first girls basketball state championship. She once asked her coach why he didn't usually eat when they were on road trips. He answered, "I eat for a purpose, not just because." Naylor didn't understand the significance of that advice until she was an adult facing personal health challenges. Now she's an author, speaker and founder of Transitional Health Inc., working alongside Yolanda Walker, offering health and wellness consulting and ensuring people have the information to change their mindset and lifestyle to focus on long term health.

Transitional Health has been serving the community for seven years delivering a variety of presentations, cooking classes, nutrition information, exercise classes/support and so much more. Naylor hit a point in her life where she prayed to God for him to help her remove her bad food addictions and she began to focus on a health conscious mindset in her personal habits and with those around her.

Naylor’s partner Walker has had her own life experiences with health and weight and now understands it’s about a person’s mindset and that we all have to have a healthier mindset in order to overcome habits such as emotional and stress eating.

“The Truth About Your Health” shares the knowledge that Naylor has acquired through her research and change in her own habits in an informational and easy read that includes recipes in the back of the book. The book encourages us to change our relationship with food and strive for a longer life and a healthier lifestyle.
