FWCS Welcomes New Member to Board

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees welcomed Antonette “Toni” Payne during a swearing-in ceremony Monday, June 24. Payne was appointed to the District 4 seat following the resignation of Rohli Booker. Four people applied for the

position.

Payne is an attorney, involved with higher education at several Fort Wayne institutions, served on several community boards and is a member of her child’s school PTA. Board members describe Payne as unwavering, personable and forward-thinking.

Booker was elected in 2022 to a four-year term in District 4 after being appointed to the board in 2020. In May, she announced that she was stepping down from the FWCS Board of School Trustees after being named to fill the 6th District City Council seat vacated by former council member and now Mayor Sharon Tucker.
