YMCA to Build $7 Million Enterprise Zone

Ink Spot Staff Report

On Tuesday, November 16, the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne hosted a press conference to introduce the community to their next facility – the YMCA Enterprise Zone. The enterprise zone will be located on the property donated by the McMillan Foundation adjacent to the Renaissance Pointe YMCA.

The 20,000 square foot facility will feature a career opportunities center, an outdoor park, and an athletic and special event field.

“This project has been years in the making," said Chris Angellatta, president and CEO of the YMCA, "and we couldn’t be prouder to bring it to our community in this neighborhood”.

The enterprise zone will provide a place for teens and young adults to explore careers and receive a variety of training that will support them into the future.

Tracy Davis, who spoke on behalf of Ivy Tech, a partner in this project, looks forward to partnering with the YMCA to serve the community in this way.

Mayor Tom Henry also thanked Chris for “filling a gap” in our community by building this facility and the variety of programs it will offer.

We will have a special interview with the YMCA in an upcoming issue.
