FOX 55 Evening News Anchor Terra Brantley will receive the coveted Silver Circle Lifetime Achievement Emmy award from the Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Cleveland Hotel in Public Square.
Respected for her leadership, mentorship, and commitment to excellence, Terra Brantley has been described as “truly a heavy hitter in our market” and “a trailblazer and community icon.”
Brantley is the longest serving African American news anchor in the state of Indiana, an Emmy and Society of Professional Journalists award winner, and inductee to the Indiana Associated Press Hall of Fame for her journalistic integrity and community work around the state. A 38-year news veteran, she was instrumental in launching WFFT FOX 55's first 5 and 6 p.m. hour long newscasts as the solo anchor in 2023. Newscasts she now co-anchors with Brian Miller.
Brantley has the distinction of being featured as an on-air personality at every television station in the Fort Wayne market. After she retired from WANE TV in 2021, she transitioned to the nonprofit sector as President/CEO of Northeast
Indiana Public Radio before joining the news team at FOX 55. Committed to uplifting the Fort Wayne community, Brantley excels as a motivational speaker around the region sharing her personal experience of how she and her children overcame domestic violence and now inspire and connect with others, while sharing their lives with Brantley's second husband of more than 16 years.
Brantley is also an advocate for diversity in media. She established the Terra Brantley Foundation which provides $15,000 college scholarships to female students at Boys and Girls Clubs in Northeast Indiana.
This proud Cleveland, Ohio native, Bedford High School Commencement speaker, Ohio University graduate and Cleveland Call & Post's William O. Walker Memorial Scholarship winner says she is “thrilled to come full circle and return to her hometown to humbly accept the Silver Circle Emmy for Lifetime Achievement”.
Brantley is one of five who will be inducted into the Silver Circle during the June 22nd ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
The NATAS Great Lakes Emmy Silver Circle Awards recognize television professionals who have made significant contributions to the industry for at least 25 years, with a significant portion of that time spent in the Great Lakes region. The Silver Circle is one of the highest honors given by NATAS.
