In Touch With a House of Cards and the House of Light

Christmas season is here, and the new year is fast approaching. The summer and fall seasons were publicized with political promises of changes. And then November did its thing and was gone. It left the nation and the rest of the world wondering about the kind of houses we lived in. It appears quiet now as if we are waiting for that day in January to happen in the new year.
At this present moment, the nation has divided houses. Of course, there may be some who do not live in either one of these two houses because of their own reasons. But here we are today, divided between a House of Cards and the House
of Light.
A House of Cards is full of darkness which breeds lies, misinformation, spinning of the truth, lack of faith, hopelessness, no love, no trust, and religious beliefs with different interpretations of the Bible that sometimes can resemble a
cult-like religion.
A House of Cards is a wobbly place to dwell. It thinks it is at the top of the universe where its power reigns in all its falsely elaborated glory, but when there is a fall from the top, all the rest of the cards will crumble into darkness.
The House of Light shines bright and strong for within this house faith, hope and love live. This a strong house that holds onto God’s light because in Him there is no darkness.
In 1 John 5-7, “God is light, in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son purifies us from all sin.” In Jesus, the light is always shining bright.
As we celebrate his Holy Birth, let us put our trust in His hands. “Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. 1 Peter 5:7.”
As I approach the coming year and the future, I am going to take solace in two hymns, “Walk in the Light” and “God’s Unchanging Hand.”
WALK IN THE LIGHT
Walk in the light, the beautiful light
Come where the dewdrops of mercy shine bright
Shine all around us by day and by night
Jesus, the Light of the world
GOD’S UNCHANGING HAND
Time is filled with swift transition
None, none in earth unmoved can stand
Build your hopes on things eternal
And then hold, hold onto God’s unchanging hand
These are the hymns that I have heard sung after November. Songs of faith and this kind of faith will tumble a House of Cards. Peter tells us not to worry. God has a plan.
