Fort Wayne Central High Alumni Association Outstanding Alumni Award When: October 13, 2018

At their annual meeting, held at First Presbyterian Church here in Fort Wayne, the Central High School Alumni Association bestowed alumnus Thomas C. (T.C.) Williams, Class of 1960, with their Outstanding Alumni Award. Williams, currently living in Houston, Texas, was unable to attend. His son, Thomas C. Bibe, his daughter-in-law, Patti, their children, and Williams’ double first cousin, McArthur, were in attendance to accept the award on his behalf.
A notable athlete at the now shuttered school, Williams was part of Central’s 1960 state semi-finalist, one-point loss basketball team that almost upended the eventual state champion, East Chicago Washington. Williams led Central with 24 points in his final game as a Tiger, hitting the long final shot--only worth two points back then--at the buzzer.
Williams’ quote revolved around two words: thankfulness and gratitude. “I’m thankful for my parents, my teammates and coaches, my children and my teammates’ children, and community organizations like the African/African American Historical Society & Museum (AAAHSM).”
