Graphic Designer Terrence Smith Wins $2,300 When: June 14, 2018

Fort Wayne SOUP is micro-grant dinner held at The Summit, 1025 West Rudisill Blvd. The event acts as a melting pot for the like-minded and a fundraiser for entrepreneurs, who have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to win money for their projects.
An optional donation of $5 or more is collected at the door. Each guest then receives SOUP, salad, bread, and a vote. One idea/presenter is voted the winner out of four-plus presentations.
At the Fort Wayne SOUP “Youth” edition in mid-June, graphic designer Terrence Smith won the top prize, edging out two other presenters and banking the $2,300 collected that night.
He will be using the business grant to purchase a faster computer, a printer, ink cartriges and a heat press for t-shirt design printing.
Smith, two years in the game and a 2018 graduate of South Side High School, began working with design clients at the beginning of his senior year, meeting them in his own office at the Penta Minority Entrepreneurial Center at 2315 South Calhoun.
Smith has worked for middle schools with the Fort Wayne Community Schools, and created logos for barbers, a party planning company, filmmaker Jeff Guy to name a few.
The final 2018 SOUP will be held on October 11; the deadline for proposal submissions is September 21.
