Been to Johnnie Mae Farm?

Johnnie Mae Farm, an urban farm operated by the City of Fort Wayne and Purdue Extension – Allen County Office, is open. Johnnie Mae Farm Stand will open Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The farm is located at 2518 Winter St. and a variety of vegetables grown on-site will be available. Cash and SNAP are accepted.
Fort Wayne’s Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services completed the historic renovation of former fire station #9 and equipped it with a state-of-the-art commercial grade kitchen, which is available for rent or use by community groups.

The City and the Purdue Extension – Allen County also began farming the vacant residential lots behind the fire station and have been working to distribute fresh produce to local residents ever since. The farm is named after long-time neighborhood advocate Johnnie Mae White.
