Cydney Bridges Day!
By Tabitha Ervin FWIS Editorial Director
Fort Wayne’s own Cydney Bridges is headed to Miss America in January! On Sunday, December 17th the community was able to join her at the main library downtown in the theater as she showed off her dresses, did a mock interview, sang her song for talent and enjoyed over 100 well-wishers on her journey. The event featured family members and various friends and pageant queens telling stories and encouraging Cydney. Mayor Tom Henry also named December 17, 2023 Cydney Bridges day at the event in a proclamation read by Amy Hanna!
She and her family have an incredible story of faith, resilience and strength, and we look forward to joining them and watching her compete in Orlando, Florida for Miss America, January 6-14, 2024 along with 50 other ladies from around the US. Cydney is excited yet calm and she feels prepared for this opportunity. She also said no matter the outcome she has enjoyed this journey!
Cydney is also raising money for Miss America Scholarships as a part of the Miss America program. This program empowers women through education and the Four Points of the crown: Style, Service, Scholarship, and Success.

Wixporium - Candles, Cocoa & Cookies Event
Candles, Cocoa, and Cookies was a fun filled holiday activity for children to enjoy on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Wixporium Candle Bar, 3954 W. Jefferson Blvd. Reserved in a private space for 2 hours and $25.00, children of all ages were able to enjoy an intimate wax making experience that encouraged creativity and fellowship. They were provided over 40 options of scents and the children were able to choose what scent they liked to make their own custom scented wax melts, while enjoying hot cocoa and cookies/donuts. Each wax melt was then colored green and processed to harden. While waiting for the wax to solidify, each child was able to make a gingerbread house to decorate. Thank you to CEO Londria Ladner, for offering this unique holiday activity to our little ones who truly enjoyed it. We look forward to this as an annual event!
