Greater Fort Wayne National Pan-Hellenic Council To Host Second Annual Unity Lighting

The Greater Fort Wayne National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), in collaboration with the City of Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department, will host the second annual Unity Lighting event on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at McKinnie Commons.

This event will mark the official kickoff of the holiday season, bringing the community together for an evening of giving and celebration. The event will feature entertainment from local youth, lighting of the unity display, and a special holiday giveaway. We’ve partnered with MidWest America Federal Credit Union, Jimmy’s BBQ, and ShoNuff BBQ to provide families with essential items and festive surprises to help make the season brighter for all.

"We’re excited to bring our community together to make a larger impact than last year," said Daryl Flowers, current President of the Greater Fort Wayne NPHC Chapter. "The Unity Lighting is about celebrating the holiday season and fostering a sense of togetherness. We're grateful for the support from our local officials and sponsors. We look forward to an evening that will bring joy and connection to all who attend."

Nationally, the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is an umbrella organization that represents nine historically African American fraternities and sororities, all of which are dedicated to promoting scholarship, leadership, community service, and cultural enrichment. Locally, the Greater Fort Wayne NPHC brings together eight of these organizations to collaborate on initiatives focused on service, civic engagement, and educational empowerment within our community. Our mission is to address the needs of our community, form strategic partnerships to expand our reach and uphold the values and objectives of our individual organizations, ensuring that we continue to have a positive and lasting impact in Fort Wayne.
