“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
Proverbs 31:25

All around the world, Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May.  Some of us are blessed to still have our Mothers with us, but some may not be so fortunate. I think that most would agree that God made mothers special, just as He stated.  She IS clothed with strength and dignity.  Whether she is a Mother figure to you or your biological Mother, she is full of love.

In every phase of your life, your Mother will hold an irreplaceable spoin your life. Strong, as she wears many hats of mother, wife, sister, daughter, chef, employee, housekeeper, and caretaker.  As a queen, worthy of our honor and respect, her children should reverence her as such. She is the most significant person in your life, and she will always have unconditional love for you. She provides and cares for you like no one else can.  She brought you into this world, clothed and fed you, and/or helped you when you needed her the most.  I encourage you to do something special for her this May.

Below is a poem that I wrote about my extraordinary mother, Dr. Andrea Dortch Thomas, to show my appreciation for her.

She's got strength

She's got wit
Always striving
She don't quit

Holds it down
Gets it done
Always rising
Like the sun

Skin like chocolate
Heart of gold
Never scared
Always bold

She's a goddess
Always modest

Super mommy
Superwoman
She's all that to me
Has integrity,
My celebrity

My mommy is amazing and oh,

So beautiful.

This Mother’s Day, let us be intentional; think of all the times when your mother or mother figure was there for you when it seemed like no one else was around. On Sunday, May 14, 2023, love on your Mother- play or real Mother, bonus Mother, grandMother, and GodMother. She deserves the world, so she may laugh at the days to come.  Happy Mother’s Day!
