Christiana Danielle is spending time here in Fort Wayne with her family as she prepares to move to California in January. She is looking to continue her career as a professional singer while also working in her field of Social Work in which she received her Masters.
I was able to speak with her about an exciting show she has coming up here in Fort Wayne! During our chat, I also learned that she didn’t really “discover her voice” until high school and then singing in college at Huntington University. Although she tried her voice growing up in church, she never thought it fit until her junior year in high school when she discovered jazz music and the voices of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. She described it as sort of an awakening and as she gained her confidence, she began to sing more.
She also shared about becoming sick her senior year in high school and having an emergency surgery in which they told her she’d have scar tissue in her throat and permanent hoarseness. During this ordeal, she prayed to God that if she got her voice back she would sing and she kept that promise by then singing whenever she could.
She has now been an artist for five years and looks to grow in her singing and musical talents in California.
As we transitioned the conversation to the Christmas show, she shared with me her immense love for Christmas and with that, she has planned a Christmas show here in Fort Wayne with proceeds to benefit the Euell WIlson Center. She loves the magic of Christmas each year and laughed as she was sharing about it.
George Hicks, her father, is on the board of the Euell Wilson Center, and she has been connected to the organization for many years and always loves to support them. She has also previously supported other fundraisers for the organization. Christiana loves kids and wanted to make sure her show supported the work that the organization does in the community. She wants the show to be about Unity with all ages, races and types of artists so with that she has hand picked some special guests to be a part of the show along with the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir. She was able to get sponsors to support the show and is thankful for Ambassador Enterprises, Community Funeral Care-Carmichael Chapel and Hicks Monuments & More. She welcomes more funding to support the show and free tickets for the Euell Wilson students to attend. She will also be debuting a yet released Christmas song for the audience to hear!
The show is family friendly and tickets are only $10. It will take place Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the University of St. Francis Performing Arts Center at 431 West Berry St. Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm. Tickets are available on eventbrite by searching Euell Wilson Christmas show.
