August Reflections

Boy this year is moving fast!
As we are getting close to September which is the end of the 3rd quarter of the year I have been reflecting on how my 2023 has been. Both in terms of any goals I set as the year began but also any accomplishments and setbacks that may have occurred and how I’ve handled those things. I am typically a pretty busy person with family, work, travel and a variety of volunteer commitments in which I hold leadership positions. I can sometimes be overcommitted and overinvolved. In each season of my life I try to evaluate my schedule and my commitments to make sure they are realistic and reasonable for my schedule.
I also try to make sure I always incorporate family time and down time into my schedule as well. I will say I am lacking in my self care currently and could use a boost in focusing on my own physical and mental health as well as prioritizing rest and quiet time.
This summer I replanted my garden, which I skipped last year, and it’s been a pleasure to sit outside and enjoy fresh air while glancing at the veggies that are growing along with my red, white and pink roses. I thoroughly enjoy quiet time outdoors in nature and sometimes even find myself snoozing to the sounds around me.
As we get to September, I plan to get back to my exercise schedule as I believe everyday is a new day to restart! I want to encourage you to pull out those goals, dust them off and see what one thing you could get refocused on now through the end of the year! As I always tell young people, goals give you a sense of direction, something to focus on and strive for. No goals and no direction equals nothing.
Just as I’m encouraging you, I am encouraging myself to get back in gear!
Have a blessed remainder of your year!
