Big Apple Jazz Club When: March 20

Unlike other River City venues, A Big Apple Jazz Club’s creative listening space is reminiscent of NYC clubs. Since October, original composition and improvisation have infused the city’s South Side with eclectic dexterity that has regional Jazz enthusiasts setting aside Second Sundays each month. ABAJC, inspired and launched last October by bassist Michael Patterson and poet Ketu Oladuwa, has staged six concerts. The local innovators have attracted patrons from distant South Bend, Huntington, and Northwest Ohio!
On the twentieth, the Club hosted Visiting Artists the Joseph Daley Tuba Trio, locally augmented with Michael Patterson, David Streeter and Jim Steele. “One of the best jazz sets I've heard in recent times,” a veteran musician said. “All of the musicians were excellent. Very accomplished people. I'm so glad that I was able to be there. It made my day.” The next concert —2 Before Noon— is Sunday, April 8th.
