Bootsy Collins at Wooden Nickel When: March 21

Funk legend Bootsy Collins signed over 300 autographs at a record signing and house party event to promote his latest release, “World Wide Funk.” Collins’s wife Patricia and his son Ouiwey were also present.

The two-and-a-half hour event at the North Anthony Wooden Nickel provided Michael Banks (DJ Strapz) a chance to meet one of his idols.

“It was a life-long dream come through, to meet one of greatest funk players in the world: James Brown’s bass guitarist, George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic (P-Funk), Bootsy’s Rubber Band,” Banks said.

“My parents always listen to the P-Funk, so I grew up being a fan since I was little. When he started being sampled by West Coast G-Funk rappers, it just made me a larger fan. I was honored & humbled to have him autograph his new vinyl record for me. I will never forget my experience.”
