Indiana Black Legislative Caucus Meeting at Pilgrim When: May 12, 2018

Representatives from the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC), out of Indianapolis, held the Fort Wayne-leg of their statewide town hall meeting at Pilgrim Baptist Church.
The IBLC’s members in attendance included: Rep. and Chairman Cherrish Pryor (Indy House of Representative District 94), Rep. Vanessa Summers (Indy House District 99), Senator Lonnie Randolph (East Chicago Senate District 2), Rep. Earl Harris Jr. (East Chicago House District 2), Rep. John Bartlett (Indy House District 95), and Rep. Gregory Porter (Indy House District 96).
Sharon Tucker, Allen County Councilwoman District 1, moderated the event. The IBLC members were on hand to provide details and reasons for the passing and rejecting of legislation of interest, from January through March 2018.
One of the early bills discussed was HEA 1001 that was enacted to sure up funds for K-12 state tuition reserves. According to Representative Pryor, the numbers for attending students were heavily undercounted, creating the need for the distribution of more money. Those increased funds will be added over the next two years.
