Girlz Rock’s 2nd Annual Tea Party When: May 6, 2018

Written by Dawn Moore
Denita Washington, Executive Director of Girlz Rock, Inc., hosted its 2nd Annual Tea Party at Sycamore Hills Country Club. This year’s theme was “Shine like a Diamond,” featuring popular Kid Chef Simone Bridges, owner of Goddess Food Factory. The event brought out over 60 girls and several of their mothers who [appropriately] wore Sunday dresses, hats, and gloves.
Mistress of Ceremony, Michelle Chambers, shared the meaning and importance of tea parties, while signature pink laced handkerchiefs and teacup candles were passed out to each guest. The tea party encouraged the etiquette of table manners and networking conversations among the young women.
Guest Speaker Bridges told the attendees how she turned her love of baking into a profitable business at the young age of 12, with the support of her parents and extended family. She also talked about the importance of communicating to your peers and adults to eliminate bullying and to follow your dreams.
Executive Director Washington continues to host events in the city, featuring talented and empowering youth.
