MLK Club Membership Mixer When: May 5, 2018

MLK Club President Bennie Edwards is famously known to say that members are the “lifeblood of any organization.” The MLK Club has welcomed 40 new members this past year.
The nonprofit introduced some of their new recruits to their active and non-active members at their first annual Membership Mixture, held at the Penta Building, 2513 South Calhoun Street in Fort Wayne.
The MLK Club’s community outreach, steeped in the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., includes their annual Unity Day Celebration, held on King’s national holiday in January, and their Santa on Tour event.
For the past two years, the MLK Club has led a tour to the National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington D.C. However, this year, the Club will take a group on a tour of historic locations in the American South, according to President Edwards. The Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee and the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama are among the spots on the tour’s itinerary.
The previously mentioned events, and other pertinent news, were discussed at the meeting. Savannah Soul, a food trailer owned by Bridget Jones, catered the event.
