You Can’t Stop Me Basketball Camp When: July 15, 2018

Approximately 50 young basketball pupils got schooled by WNBA Legend Tamika Catchings, Capture Sports Agency owner Chauntiel Smith, and volunteers at the second annual You Can’t Stop Me basketball camp, held at the McMillen Park Community Center.
The event was halved by a skill-development section, where the attendees participated in passing, dribbling, shooting, and footwork drills, and a six-team round-robin scrimmage.
The camp fell short of their intended goal of 65 sign-ups. Smith, who acknowledged an AAU tournament that dropped the same weekend potentially drained some of their numbers, said the enthusiasm and energy from the kids remained strong over the day’s course.
But “there’s always room for improvement,” Smith admitted. “On a scale of one to 10, I give it an eight.”
Catchings, who left early to attend a WNBA/Indiana Fever home game, was not on hand for the camp-ending scrimmage. A trip to Indianapolis is one of the improvements Catchings and Smith hope to make with next year’s camp.
“If the camp ends on a game day [for the Fever], we hope to take the kids to the game after our camp,” Smith said. More dope ideas for next year are also on the table.
