None of us got where we are solely by pulling ourselves by our bootstraps.  We got here because somebody -- a parent, a teacher, an Ivy League crony or a few nuns – bent down and helped us pick up our boots.  So said the late African-American trailblazer Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.  As part of their Black History Month celebrations, Thurgood Marshall Leadership Academy (TMLA) hosted their Walking Museum event at the South Anthony Blvd. school.  Following a dinner, and after a small assembly where the crowd sang a rendition of Lift Every Voice and Song, parents visited each classroom to learn from the presenting students who “lectured” on a specific theme, including the Harlem Renaissance (three perspectives from the kindergarten, first, and second grade group), Black Inventors (third grade), Pop Culture (fourth grade), and the Slavery Era (fifth and sixth grade).
